Amandine – a recently built chalet that offers space and comfort for a large family or a group of friends. Situated above the town of Briançon, by car or bus Amandine is just minutes from the ski lifts Prorel (Briançon) and Chantemerle (the heart of Serre Chevalier). Walk 150 metres from your front door and you’ll meet the free ski/valley buses ready to whisk you to your preferred ski lift.
The new owners have created a home from home, a chalet that provides a convenient base year-round and in particular for the multitude of sports that Serre Chevalier offers; cycling, rafting, climbing to name a few. The chalet sits on a crossroads between five different valleys including the Guisane, the Durance and the Clarée. The Tour de France again zoomed by in 2014 and keen road-cyclists will find the chalet the perfect start point for attacking the infamous cols of Granon, Galiber, Izoard and Echelle.
Within 200 metres you have a popular Patisserie (bakery) and within 300 metres you have a large supermarket, sports shops, off-licence, snack bars and clothing stores. All this pretty much on your door step, while being surrounded by mountains and a UNESCO World Heritage Site less than a mile away (the Cité Vauban, also known as the old town of Briançon.)
Enter the house and you have immediate access to a spacious garage area for equipment and gear. Also on this floor, there are three bedrooms. A twin bedroom (can also be a double) with private balcony and an ensuite shower room with twin sinks. A second twin room and a bunkbed room with two single bunks, ideal for children and early teens. A shower room is also on this level, plus an independent WC.
Take the staircase and you enter the open-plan living space – a large living area with open fire and access to a balcony with views of the mountains and Prorel ski lift, the dining area and the kitchen. On this floor you also have the master double bedroom with ensuite bathroom and WC (this room also has a double sofa bed so can sleep up to four guests). There is a TV/DVD system in the lounge and plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy exchanging stories about their day on the mountain.
Parking: two cars at the chalet and additional parking for visitors.
The British-run ski school New Generation Ski School offers coaching to all EurekaSKI guests. Their main base is in Monêtier but they will happily meet guests at any lift station within Serre Chevalier for private coaching or off-piste/adventure sessions on a half- or full-day basis. Group courses and technical clinics usually start in Monêtier.
