It’s a very easy drive that takes no more than two hours unless you hit heavy traffic:
- When leaving the airport you will automatically join a dual-carriageway.
- After a few minutes, take exit 1 for ‘Autostrade – Tangenziale’ and this will take you onto the motorway.
- Simply follow signs to Fréjus. En route, you will pass through three tolls costing around 16€ in total; each toll accepts cash or cards (look out for the correct queue to join depending on how you’re paying.) You will also drive through many tunnels!
- After the third toll, look out for the ‘SS24 Monginevro/Sestriere/Claviere’ exit and take this.
- Follow signs to Monginevro (or Montgenèvre which is French for Monginevro) and you will start climbing and eventually enter France by passing the Col du Montgenèvre (and also taking in views of the Montgenèvre ski resort).
- Now follow signs to Briançon – this is easy as you just head downhill! Briançon sits at the lowest end of Serre Chevalier and is the first sector (and town) you come to.
- Follow your accommodation provider’s directions to your accommodation (following signs for Grenoble if you are staying in Chantemerle, Villeneuve-La Salle-Le Bez or Le Monêtier les Bains.)
