Ski guiding in France is legal only when hiring a fully qualified instructor or high mountain guide. There are strong arguments for this ruling (2013) mainly linked to the safety of skiers and boarders which of course is paramount, no-one can argue with that.

For red run skiers and above wanting to tackle some more challenging terrain and get lots of mileage in: proXplore Serre Che’ Steeps
You’ll ski many of the red and black runs in the valley, hunting down the best snow in Monêtier then up and over into Serre Che’s sprawling Vallons de la Cucumelle with rolling fields of snow. You’ll continue on and off piste towards Chantemerle where, after a bite to eat, you’ll up the tempo and take on the Piste Luc Alphand named after the local Downhill hero himself. 7000 vertical metres a day anyone?
